“Putting Evidence Back Into
Running Injury and Performance”
Coronavirus Special with Adam Meakins and Mike James
In this rather impromptu but very necessary episode of RunChatlive, we are joined by Adam Meakins ‘The Sports Physio‘ & Mike James ‘The Endurance Physio‘ to discuss the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, and reflect on what clinicians/patients/people should/could be doing with regards to minimising the impact & spread.
Though the next few months are full of much uncertainty, one thing we do know will help reduce the impact of this virus is minimising unnecessary trips & social contact. But with news now of ever extending periods of self isolation, many businesses and of course therapists are very concerned about what the future holds.
One thing that is emerging from this crisis is the need for health care professionals therapists to strengthen and facilitate the provision of online consultation. In many cases, an web based meeting between therapist & patient can provide a valuable opportunity to advise what steps to take, e.g. appropriate modifications to training, rehabilitation exercises, lifestyle changes, etc. Also, important red flags that could highlight the need for immediate medical attention can be sought and hopefully dismissed if not identified.
