“Putting Evidence Back Into
Running Injury and Performance”
The Best Arm Position For Pressups
Having your arms out to the side is the WORST way to do push ups! Keep your elbows tucked or you will get injured! That’s not a proper push up! Keep your arms in!
People get very passionate about the ‘PROPER’ way to have your arms when doing a push up, but in reality there is no one proper way. Despite the many youtube videos out there, often recorded by fit looking men & women who look like they know what they are talking about, there is no evidence that having your elbows out increases risk of injury more than having your elbows in.
So what is the best arm position during pressups? Watch the video to find out, and do please share your personal experiences & views in the comments!
Make a donation for Cancer Research UK?
This November, I am joining the many great people around the country who have signed up for the ‘100 Push-Ups A Day in November’ to raise money for Cancer Research UK. I have chosen Cancer Research UK because my family, like so many others, has lost loved ones to cancer. Cancer Research UK was set up 20 years ago and has been at the forefront of working relentlessly to accelerate progress towards a world where everybody can lead longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
